I use angle, color, intensity, texture, and movement of light to construct a framework for a story told onstage. Lighting design draws from and contributes to all of the things that fascinate me: physics, music, art, and the base human need to seek higher understanding of ourselves through the creation of story.
Julie has designed lighting for more than a hundred productions off-Broadway and off-off-Broadway in New York City, at regional theaters around the country, and in academic environments while teaching. Based in New York City for most of her career, Julie recently relocated to the Berkshires and is now based in North Adams, Massachusetts.
